“El Ayudante isn’t just a place—it’s a community. It’s family.” — Joseph Walters

Joseph Walters (31) first traveled to León in 2013 with Missionary Friends and immediately fell in love with the people of Nicaragua. Over multiple trips, God deepened that connection into a long-term calling to serve.

Serving through El Ayudante’s motto—One child, One family, One community—Joseph has participated in a wide range of hands-on initiatives:

  • Leading Vacation Bible School (VBS) activities for neighborhood children.
  • Distributing long-lasting water filter pots that secure clean drinking water for up to five years, continuing the ministry training of his late mentor, Rev. Bruce Skipper.
  • Supporting sustainable micro-enterprise projects, including delivering baby chicks, feed, and 12-tree fruit orchards (spanning six varieties) to help families generate income and stable food sources.
  • Assisting local school feeding programs, where a gift of $35 feeds 110 students lunch for a day.

Rooted in Matthew 28:19–20, Joseph encourages anyone sensing a pull toward global missions to start in prayer and take that first step of obedience.
